Use the designated Brandenburger Strand surf zone north of Westerland promenade, with parking along Brandenburger Strasse and facilities behind the beach.
Watch out for
- Rip currents and tidal flows occur around groyne remains and sandbars, with sharp wood or metal pieces sometimes visible only at low tide.
- High waves, strong current and groynes make storm conditions challenging.
- Surfing in bathing zones is prohibited in summer and flag rules must be followed.
