Freyja is a wellness companion for iPhone, built by Pelagic Labs. It helps you track your cycle, hydration, UV exposure, mood, energy, and nutrition context — all in one calm, private space. Freyja is a wellness tool, not a medical device, and does not provide medical advice, fertility treatment guidance, or diagnostic information.
Privacy is not a feature of Freyja — it is the architecture. All of your data stays on your device. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics. This policy explains exactly what data Freyja handles and how.
1. Data Collection — On-Device Only
All data you enter in Freyja is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s SwiftData framework. Your data is protected by iOS Data Protection encryption, which means it is encrypted at rest and tied to your device passcode.
1.1 Types of Data Stored Locally
- Cycle & Period Data: Period start/end dates, cycle length, phase tracking, and predictions
- Hydration Logs: Daily water intake entries and hydration goals
- Mood & Energy Entries: Mood selections and energy level recordings
- UV Exposure Data: UV index lookups, skin type settings, and sun protection reminders
- Nutrition Context: Cycle-aware nutritional context and suggestions
- Apple Watch Data: Optional synced data from Apple Watch (premium feature)
- User Preferences: Settings, onboarding choices, and notification preferences
1.2 What We Do Not Collect
Freyja collects zero data from you. No personal identifiers, no usage analytics, no device fingerprints, no advertising IDs, no crash reports. There is no server to send data to.
2. No Accounts
Freyja does not require or offer user accounts. There is no login, no registration, no email collection, and no password. You open the app and use it — no identity required. We never collect personal identifiers of any kind.
3. No Cloud Sync
There is no server-side storage, no backend server, and no cloud database. Your data lives exclusively on your device. We do not operate any infrastructure that receives, processes, or stores your health or wellness data.
4. No Analytics or Tracking
Freyja contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporters, and no third-party tracking code. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any similar service. We have no way to observe how you use the app.
5. Apple HealthKit Integration
Freyja offers optional integration with Apple HealthKit. This integration is entirely controlled by you through iOS permissions.
- Read Access: With your permission, Freyja may read health data (such as water intake or cycle data) from HealthKit to provide supportive wellness context
- Write Access: With your permission, Freyja may write entries (such as hydration logs) to HealthKit so they appear in Apple Health
- On-Device Only: All HealthKit data is processed locally on your device. HealthKit data is never transmitted off-device by Freyja
- Wellness Context Only: HealthKit data is used to enrich your wellness experience, never for diagnostics or medical purposes
You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices.
6. Location Data
Freyja uses your location transiently to look up the current UV index via Apple’s WeatherKit service. Here is how location data is handled:
- Transient Use: Your location is used in the moment to fetch UV data, then discarded. It is not stored in the app or written to any database
- No Transmission to Third Parties: Location is sent only to Apple’s WeatherKit API, which is a first-party Apple service governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy
- Permission Required: Location access requires your explicit permission through the iOS location prompt. You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings
7. Subscription Data
Freyja offers optional premium features through in-app subscriptions. All subscription management is handled by Apple:
- Apple StoreKit 2: Subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple’s StoreKit 2 framework
- On-Device Verification: Subscription status is verified locally using JWS (JSON Web Signature) tokens. There is no server-side receipt validation
- Local Caching: Subscription status is cached securely in the iOS Keychain
- No Payment Data: Freyja never sees, processes, or stores your payment information. All billing is handled by Apple
8. Reproductive Health Data Sensitivity
Cycle and reproductive health data is treated as the highest-sensitivity category in Freyja.
- Encrypted at Rest: All cycle data is protected by iOS Data Protection encryption, tied to your device passcode
- Never on Lock Screen: Cycle data is never displayed on the lock screen or in notification previews without your explicit control
- Never Shared: Reproductive health data is never shared with analytics services, advertisers, or any third party
- No Cloud Exposure: Cycle data never leaves your device. There is no cloud backup of this data through Freyja
9. Third-Party Services
Freyja uses only Apple first-party services:

No third-party SDKs are included in Freyja. No Facebook SDK, no Google SDK, no advertising networks, no attribution services, no analytics platforms.
10. Apple Privacy Manifest
Freyja includes Apple’s required privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) which formally declares that the app performs no tracking and collects no data that is sent off-device. This manifest is verified by Apple during App Store review.
11. Data Retention & Deletion
- On-Device Persistence: Your data remains on your device for as long as the app is installed
- Complete Deletion: Deleting the Freyja app from your iPhone removes all data permanently. There is no server-side copy to linger
- No External Backups: Freyja does not back up your data to any external server. Standard iOS/iCloud device backups are managed by Apple according to your device settings
12. Your Data Rights
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Access: All your data is visible to you in the app at any time
- Deletion: Delete the app to remove all data, or manage individual entries within the app
- Portability: Your data is yours. It never leaves your device unless you choose to share it through iOS sharing features
- No Request Needed: Since we never have your data, there is no need to submit a data access or deletion request to us
13. Children’s Privacy
Freyja is rated 12+ on the App Store. It is not directed at children under 13. Since the app does not collect any data or require accounts, there is no mechanism through which children’s data could be collected or transmitted.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Because Freyja does not collect email addresses or user accounts, we are unable to notify you directly of changes — please check this page periodically for the current version.
