How it breaks
La Torche is a west-facing Bigouden peninsula beach where Atlantic swell wraps around the granite headland into multiple sandbank peaks, with hollower A-frames toward Pors Carn.
Getting there
Use the large dune-foot car park near B.Brother surf school; Pors Carn is reached from the same area or by driving toward Saint-Guenole.
Watch out for
- A permanent rip known as the Elevator runs along the main beach.
- Pors Carn has powerful reef-influenced waves and submerged rocks near the headland.
Crowd
Summer surf schools crowd the central peaks, while quieter banks can appear north of the main car park.
