Bathymetry Pipeline

Meerkaartor

PILOT

Legacy cards, modern overlays.

Meerkaartor is a manifest-driven ingestion pipeline for teams that need reproducible lake tiles, clear metadata, and publish controls they can defend.

Who it is for

  • Teams with scanned or archived bathymetry cards that need modern map overlays.
  • Products that need lake-specific tile packages without changing their existing map provider.
  • Operators who need provenance, QA traceability, and repeatable per-lake processing.

Legacy Card to Tile Pipeline

Converts scanned bathymetry cards, PDFs, and TIFFs into transparent XYZ PNG tiles targeting EPSG:3857.

UrlTile-Compatible Delivery

Produces stable tile URL templates for direct app consumption. No custom headers or cookies required.

Lake-Specific Metadata

Per-lake metadata including bounds, zoom limits, attribution, version, source card IDs, and QA status.

QA-Gated Publishing

Blocks publish when georeferencing thresholds fail or visual approval is missing. Release tied to measured evidence.

Full Provenance Per Lake

Preserves original source scans unchanged. Records checksums, timestamps, commands, and tool versions for every run.

Batch-Ready Operation

One manifest per lake with no hidden manual configuration. Supports running many lakes through the same pipeline.

Trust Signals

Output contract is explicit: EPSG:3857, XYZ tiles, flipY=false, 256x256, transparent PNGs.

Publish is blocked unless QA and stage status pass.

Metadata, QA, and publish artifacts are versioned and machine-readable.

Built around explicit CRS rules, QA gates, and immutable publish artifacts instead of one-off GIS handoffs.
